Village Board Members
Mayor Trish Abato
Patricia "Trish" Abato resides in Suffern, with her two children, Jillian and Christopher.
Trish is the former Director of the Suffern Soup Kitchen, employed by Comprehensive OB/GYN, and is a New York State Emergency Medical Technician. She is Past President of the Suffern Lions Club, and Vice President of the Friends of the Village of Suffern. Trish has assisted with the Suffern D.A.R.E. Toy Drive for the past seventeen years. For the past twenty years, her volunteer work in the community has included serving the needy of the area and grant writing for the Suffern Soup Kitchen, as well as directing and assisting many community youth theatre groups. She has also performed in many productions with the Sacred Heart Players. Trish is also a co-founder and past president of the Suffern Volunteer Hose Company Ladies Auxiliary.
Deputy Mayor Jo Meegan-Corrigan
Trustee Matt Byrne
Matt is a lifelong resident of the Village, and a well known and respected attorney with a law practice right here in the Village, where he has represented hundreds of Village families over the last twenty years.
He served as Suffern's Village Justice for sixteen years before his election as Village Trustee. He is also an adjunct professor at Manhattan, Iona and Domincan Colleges and a former volunteer CCD teacher and Parish Council member of Sacred Heart Church.
He is a graduate of Sacred Heart School, Don Bosco Prep, Manhattan College and Pace Law School. He is married to Maribet, a public school guidance counselor and together, they are the proud parents of Matt and Jack.
Trustee Frank Hagen
Frank is a 38 year resident of Suffern where he and his wife Lois raised 4 sons. He is retired from the National Guard after 35 years of service and has a bachelor's degree in Organizational Management.
Frank served as a Parking Enforcement Officer for the Village and has also served the Village as a volunteer on the Recycling Committee and has been active with the Suffern Farmer's Market since its inception. He was also part of the Suffern Revitalization and the Suffern Civic Association. He is an officer in the American Legion Post 859 and the Sons of Italy in America. Frank is ready to serve the Village as a Trustee and pledges to always be accessible and responsive to Suffern residents.
Trustee John Meehan
Jack is a lifelong resident serving his fifth term as Trustee. He and his wife Carole have two children.
Jack earned his Bachelor's Degree from Villanova University and his Master's Degree from Brooklyn College, both in political science. His community involvement included Meals on Wheels, Association of the Visually Impaired (former President), Rockland County Cooperative Extension (former Vice President), and as a volunteer tax preparer for AARP. Jack continues a family tradition of elected public service.
